About me!

Natasha.L., HHP, RN, Flight Nurse. Founder of H.O.P.E through Health and Nursing

Education:

I am currently a Flight Nurse with CALSTAR (California Shock Trauma Air Rescue). I truly enjoy this honorable behumbling career. Also, I have experience in as an Emergency Room charge nurse in Central Coast California. My experience ranges from medical/surgical (orthopaedic/gynaecological units), neurosurgery-trauma, Emergency room and some ICU (Intensive care unit). My certifications range from CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, Instructor status), ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support, instrcutor status), PALS (Pediatric Life Support), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), MICN (Mobile Intensive Care Nursing) and CCN (Critical Care Nursing), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and STABLE program. I have training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Receiver Awareness and First Receiver Operations in Disaster Preparedness. On the side I am taking more nursing courses through the University of Athabasca, Alberta, Canada. This is where I initially started this website via a nursing informatics class. I graduated from Grant MacEwan College Nursing Accelerated track diploma program in 2005. I Moved from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Central Coast California to pursue my nursing dreams in 2006.

Prior to nursing, in 1999 I took a year of Bachelor of Science Specialization to find out my calling was in Holistic Health. I graduated from Grant MacEwan College, Edmonton, Alberta Canada in 2001 with a diploma in Holistic Health. Later to travel to Africa for 3 months safari style, then to come back and set up my holistic practice with Dr. Bryan Brodeur (Chiropractor) and Dr. Marianne Cairns, N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor). Here I specialized in Acupressure massage, 3rd Degree Reiki, Neuro-Linguistic Psychology and Phyto-nutrition. With these skills I helped clients with lifestyle management changes regarding wiser health choices. I served Co Chair on the Grant MacEwan College holistic External Advisory Committee for 4 years. I also had the opportunity to make the occasional television appearance on local stations such Big Breakfast television (now City TV) and CFRN (Edmonton).

Volunteer Opportunities:

I have volunteered in the past for the Multiple Sclerosis Society (Super Cities Walk) as Massage Coordinator (Edmonton, Alberta), and also donated some of my photography (which is another one of my hobbies) for fundraiser at the Red Strap Market, and volunteered for the Relay for Life Cross Cancer Society (Edmonton, Alberta). Recently in last 4 years I have volunteered in the Medic Tent for the Wildflower Triathlon, at Lake San Antonio, California.

Future

My future dream is to continue my education, enjoy being a Flight Nurse to challenge the ultimate autonomy a nurse can be. My long term goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner. With these skills I will endure my quest in helping support the Eastern and Western healing models to combine in a symbiotic environment. H.O.P.E through Health and Nursing will continue on to help others whom wish to be empowered through themselves.
